Beer in Ancient Times: Iberians

We’ll inmerse of archeo-gastronomy world. Get to know the ancient peoples through their gastronomic customs. During this tour from Valencia we will focus on the Iberian people. The Iberian is a civilization that settled in the east and south of the Iberian Peninsula since the 6th century BC. until the Romanization of Hispania in the second century AD.

It is a half-day tour from Valencia in a small group (max 7 people) where we can visit an Iberian archaeological site where we can better understand this civilization and its history. To access the archeological site, we will have to take a short hike up the mountain of about 30-45 minutes, so insurance will be included (required unless you are federated in the Mountaineering Federation or have a travel insurance covering mountain hikes). We will talk about society, the economy and its gastronomy.

After visiting the site and before continuing with the tour, we will take a break to have a beer tasting as the Iberians could make it in the peninsula. Then we will visit a craft beer factory where we will taste some modern beers and thus be able to compare them with the type of beer that was produced in ancient times.

In the craft brewery we will take a guided tour of the different parts of the factory (where other types of alcohol are also produced) and after the guided tour the tasting will begin. This brewery produces about 7 different types of beer from which a selection will be tasted. Do you think we still doiung similar beers as the Iberian did?

After the tasting we will return to the starting point where we will deliver a small gift. An Iberian beer.
